Cabbie Unlikely Celebrity in Colombia Sex Scandal

The Secret Service sex scandal has spawned X-rated jokes, inspired a spicy song set to a local Caribbean beat, and made an unlikely celebrity of a 42-year-old taxi driver who lives with his mother and now seems to be in hiding.

With no other decent leads locally, scoop-hungry journalists fought all week for the favor of Jose Pena, the president of the Hotel Caribe taxi stand who happened to drive home the prostitute who set the scandal in motion.

Fiercely competitive reporters from tabloids to TV networks accused one another of bidding up Pena's fees. He would disappear for hours in the employ of one or another, the spurned reporters redialing him incessantly, filling his voice mail box with entreaties.

It was Pena, after all, who led journalists to the whitewashed, two-family house on a quiet cul-de-sac on the edge of town where he said the woman lived with her 9-year-old son. And he described how the woman told him a Secret Service agent refused to pay her full fee and locked his door at the five-star hotel the morning of April 12.

It didn't help that Hotel Caribe workers were muzzled by their employer and normally helpful senior Colombian police and government officials also clammed up.

One news outlet eventually published photos, found on Facebook, that it said were of the woman who set off the scandal.

Meet the new Victoria’s Secret Angel: Toni Garrn

Joining the likes of Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr and Candice Swanepoel, 19-year-old German model Toni Garrn has been confirmed as the latest Victoria’s Secret Angel.

Many a supermodel including Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks and Gisele Bündchen has made a name as a an Angel for the lingerie giant, and on April 11 the brand revealed via its Twitter account that Garrn is its newest official spokesAngel.

The previously under-the-radar model was discovered when she was just 14 at a street festival in Germany and hit the big time when she walked her debut catwalk show as a worldwide exclusive for Calvin Klein. Campaigns for Calvin Klein Collection, Jill Stuart and Prada, and a string of Vogue covers and top-notch editorials later and she's now the face of Givenchy beauty and a Victoria's Secret Angel.

Garrn has kept a surprisingly low profile in the fashion world up to now -- despite already clocking up campaigns for major fashion houses including Givenchy and Ralph Lauren. With her newly elevated status, expect to see and hear a great deal more.

Before she was officially named an Angel, the German-born model made her VS runway debut at the 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (aka the sexiest night of the year!), so if you missed her strutting her stuff on the catwalk the first time, don’t worry,  you’ll be seeing a lot more of Toni very soon!

But what will the appointment mean for Garrn? Well, aside from earning copious amounts of cash, being a Victoria's Secret spokesperson means being ferried all over the world with a genetic dream team of beautiful models, which currently includes Miranda Kerr, Candice Swanepoel and Alessandra Ambrosio, promoting the brand's new products and ventures, which means she might find herself in London this June when they open their first UK store on New Bond Street.

Marc Anthony Files for Divorce from Jennifer Lopez

Latin pop singer Marc Anthony has filed for divorce from singer and actress Jennifer Lopez, ending their seven-year marriage. The musician, 43, filed for divorce on April 9 from the American Idol judge, 42, according to documents filed at Los Angeles Superior Court. The duo's separation date is listed as "to be determined," but they publicly announced their breakup in July.

The former couple announced they were ending their marriage in June after seven years. They have twin children together, and Anthony is seeking joint custody.

Marc does not list a specific date of separation, but the couple announced their split back in July.

They married in 2004.   This will be Jennifer's 3rd divorce and the numero dos for Marc. He wants each party to foot the bill for their own attorney's fees.

Britney Spears ‘in final stages of $15 million deal to join The X Factor’

Britney Spears is going to appear as a judge on the next series of The X Factor USA. She has reached an agreement to serve as a judge on Simon Cowell's "The X Factor".

The singer is said to have turned down a $10 million offer a month ago, but since the offer was upped to a whopping $15 million, she’s now keen to jump on board and is apparently in the final stages of the big money deal as we speak.

The deal has been agreed upon, but has not yet been signed. Spears is still under a conservator-ship following her mid-2000s breakdown, with her father, Jamie Spears, serving as her guardian.

A Fox spokeswoman said the network had no comment on the reports. A spokeswoman for Cowell said the same.

“The whole idea is to get eyeballs in front of the show,” said Brad Ad-gate, senior vice president at Horizon Media. “When you look at the big name judges, you think of [‘The Voice’ judges] Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera and [‘American Idol’s’] Jennifer Lopez. He’s been searching for a blockbuster name that’s going to draw in viewers, particularly young viewers.”

Britney’s fee will be even more than Jennifer Lopez’s impressive American Idol pay packet - $3 million more in fact.

“The X Factor” is due to return to the airwaves in the fall.

“Spears was the ultimate pop tart back in the day. Despite her personal issues she's managed to bounce back and remain popular with her fan base,” said media analyst Shari Anne Brill. “While she is not the best singer, ( lip syncing and lots of auto-tune) as a performer, Spears always seemed to have that X factor herself, that certain je nes seis quoi. She could be a perfect foil for Simon too.”

Bruno Mars was Unfurnished of a Lawbreaking Cocaine Possession Case

According to sources the pop star Bruno Mars was unfurnished of a lawbreaking cocaine possession case on Wednesday, after his attorneys told a judge the Grammy winning pop star stayed out of danger and met other situation of an appeal pact.

Las Vegas judge, Jessie Walsh settled to allow going a drug ownership charge for Pop singer Bruno Mars this past Wednesday.  Mars, AKA Peter Gene Hernandez, was arrested after a concert at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino for possession of 2.6 grams of cocaine. He pleaded guilty, completed probation with good behavior, and served 230 hours of community service. He was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and attend eight hours of drug counseling. Clark county district judge Jessie Walsh dismissed the case against the 26 year old singer and songwriter of hits including “Just the Way You Are” and “It Will Rain”.

He could have faced up to four years in state prison. His attorney, Blair Berk, has said the singer appreciated the chance as a first time offender to have the felony charge dismissed.

Because Doo-Wop & Hooligans was released just after the Grammy nomination deadline for last year’s ceremony, Mars has already won Grammys of best male pop vocal performance, and record of the year for his debut single “Just the Way You Are”.  Check to see how he does this year when the 54th annual Grammy Awards air February 12th on CBS.
